IT Support Specialist

The IT Support Specialist ensures proper computer and technology operations so that end users can accomplish organizational tasks.  This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting and actively resolving end user support requests.


Position Responsibilities

  • Install, test, monitor, upgrade, troubleshoot and repair computer systems, networks, and peripherals.

  • Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of operating systems and appropriate software.

  • Field incoming help requests from end users via both telephone and support tickets in a courteous manner.

  • Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent future problems.

  • Build rapport and elicit problem details from support customers.

  • Prioritize and schedule problems.  Escalate problems (when required) to the CEO or designated individual.

  • Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service.

  • Prepare evaluations of software or hardware and recommend improvements or upgrades.

  • Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.

  • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.

  • Test fixes to ensure problem has been resolved


  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Degree in computer science, information systems or a related subject preferred

  • Two years of experience in a related field

  • Knowledge of software frequently used, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Adobe, scanning software and Windows

  • Familiarity and comprehension of Internet capabilities

  • Demonstrable communication and organization skills

  • Knowledge of basic computer hardware.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening and questioning skills.

  • Strong documentation skills
